Description
Dating back to the 18th century, this Grade II listed thatched cottage is attached to another cottage, and the pair were originally a row of three. The two cottages sit gable end onto Park Lane, less than 70m from the High Street, with a footpath passing in front of them and dissecting the garden, which comprises two generous areas. One of these areas is to the side/rear and is adjacent to pony paddocks, and the other is an enclosed and secluded garden with two sheds to the front of the cottage.
The roof was re-thatched in 2022, otherwise the cottage requires substantial refurbishment works. There are significant cracks to the walls, identified by a surveyor on behalf of the seller as being caused by roof spread rather than subsidence. A copy of the report will be included within the legal pack, although this will be for reference only. The suggested remedy is to install tie bars and re-point, using lime mortar for which listed buildings consent has been applied for, along with consent to replace the windows.
