An idyllic refurbished cottage close to the shores of Loch Tay
Description
Pier Cottage is an enchanting stone-built property dating from the 1880s. It was originally constructed as the Pier Master’s house and served the Loch Tay steamboats. Today, its heritage and character are complimented with a comfortable modern interior.
The cottage has been extended and refurbished in recent years and is presented in beautiful walk-in condition. The interiors are both characterful and understated, with contemporary finishes blending with original features such as the painted timber lined walls and ceilings.
The accommodation is bright and welcoming, with the main entrance via a conservatory (beside a useful utility/boot room) leading into an open plan kitchen/dining room. Beyond the kitchen there is a charming lobby with built in shelving and a window seat that connects the kitchen to both the cosy sitting room and the garden room. With its vaulted ceiling and extensive glazing, the garden room is a striking living space that seamlessly connects the interior with the surrounding landscape. Both the sitting room and the garden room have wood burning stoves. Upstairs, there are two charming double bedrooms (one with built in storage), and a bathroom.
Garden
The garden at Pier Cottage is one of its very special features. Over the years it has been planted with a huge variety of plants and within its 0.18 acres there is an orchard, a terrace, clipped hedges, herbaceous borders, wild flowers, raised beds, gravel paths, shrubs, trees and climbing plants. There are two terraces; one overlooks the Ardtalnaig burn and the other is at the top of the garden beside the summer house; both are lovely spots to sit out on a warm evening.
