The week before Christmas 2019, we moved into 16 Pellitot Grove, an uncommon name, hinting at peace and tranquility. Magical. The house gleamed, everything just completed, and the postcode was so new that delivery drivers couldn't locate the address on their sat navs! The house had everything we wanted and was practically and beautifully designed with lots of storage and parking space, including a huge garage and a driveway for two cars.

The t-shaped back garden has remained a delight, allowing all sorts of possibilities with the two ends that are tucked away, each behind a garage.

The house is airy, full of natural light, and is very energy efficient. Our friends are amazed when we tell them how much our electricity costs. Some really nice neighbours! 😁

We watched as the beautiful local primary school, a couple of streets away, emerged from the meadows. We marveled as the pointy eaves of the new Shinfield Parish offices and public rooms added to the local skyline. Our daughter's wedding reception was the very first of such that was hosted there. On our frequent walks around and beyond Shinfield we saw how a very handy lidl was hoisted onto the empty patch of land opposite the gp's surgery. We also watched, more recently, as cricket green and pitch were landscaped in, at the end of the estate.

There was nothing more anybody could ask for: Supermarket, gp/dentist/pharmacy, sports, school, civic offices; all within five leisurely minutes' stroll.

Alas, our grandchildren are arriving, three so far, delightful bundles of joy, but at different places, within easy driving distance of London. And so, we must leave sixteen, our magical palace of peace and tranquility. Needs must, alas!
