Athena Lodge is attractively located in the village of Wadesmill and adjoins some delightful rolling countryside and is in a perfect location for commuting with easy access to the A10 (2 minutes), the M25 and mainline stations at Ware and Hertford. The village has a range of useful facilities, which include a pub, hotel, shop and tearoom as well as some historic houses, and nearby the River Rib.

This substantial brick family home is believed to have been built in the early part of the 20th Century in red brick, set under a tiled roof, with plaster and woodwork on the upper elevation. To either side of the house there are two parking areas, one has a double garage with a wood store behind and has a pathway which leads to the front door and to a porch with seating. There is a generous entrance hallway with a staircase to the first floor and a doorway off to an L-shaped drawing room with an inglenook fireplace and a wood burning stove. On the other side of the hall is the dining room which is another well-proportioned room.

The back of the house has a kitchen/breakfast room with doors out to the garden. There are a generous range of integrated appliances, a Period Range which is decorative and a modern gas fired Range. Integrated appliances include fridge freezer, dishwasher and wine cooler. In addition, there is a generous size utility room with a modern wall mounted gas fired boiler and a hot water cylinder, and a cloakroom, as well as a door out to a covered rear porch with a useful storage cupboard.

On the first floor there are four bedrooms and one is ensuite and, from the back of the house, there are particularly attractive views.

The gardens lie principally to the south of the house and there are gardens to the north, which are easily maintained with lawns and some mature fruit trees (apples and pears). To the south side of the house there is a curved terrace, a well-established herbaceous border and useful timber building which could be used as an office or gym.

Ware which is one of the principal towns in East Hertfordshire, set astride the A10 London Trunk road. The town provides a comprehensive range of social, recreational and educational and has a range of traditional shops. The area is popular with commuters and the town has a train station with regular services to London Liverpool Street. The County town of Hertford lies approximately two miles to the south. Although Ware and Hertford are well developed, there is excellent countryside in the vicinity.
