Set on Waldeck Road, in the sought-after Duckett’s Green pocket of the wider West Green, Tottenham and Harringay area, this chain-free, outstandingly renovated and large 3-bedroom house on Waldeck Road, Duckett’s Green, offers the kind of space, height, quality and family layout that many buyers spend years trying to find.
From the outside, the house has all the charm you would hope for in an early 20th-century home: A handsome red brick façade, bay window, shutters, and a carefully finished tiled approach. Step inside, however, and the scale quickly sets it apart from the standard local terrace. High ceilings, generous proportions and a beautifully renovated interior give the house a far more elevated feel, with over 1,550 sq ft of bright, thoughtfully arranged living space across two floors.
The ground floor has been designed for real family life, not just for photographs. The front reception is calm and elegant, with a large bay window that draws in natural light and creates a lovely place to read, unwind, or welcome guests. Beyond it, the second reception gives you the flexibility every growing household wants, whether you imagine it as a playroom, snug, music room, workspace or a quieter evening sitting room away from the activity of the kitchen.
The house then opens beautifully at the rear into a superb kitchen and dining space. This is the room where daily life naturally gathers. Morning coffee at the island, children doing homework at the table, friends arriving for dinner, doors open in summer, the garden becoming part of the room. Three skylights bring light deep into the space, while the full-width bifold doors frame the garden and create an easy connection between inside and out.
The kitchen itself is sleek, modern and practical, with dark cabinetry, integrated appliances, a generous island with breakfast-bar seating, and excellent storage and worktop space. It feels considered and contemporary without losing the warmth of a family home.
Outside, the west facing garden is larger than you might expect for this type of house, and it has been arranged to be genuinely usable. The terrace leads directly from the kitchen, making outdoor dining simple, while the lawn gives children space to play. Raised beds, fencing and a seating area at the far end create a sense of structure and privacy, with the open rear aspect helping the garden feel peaceful and not overlooked.
Upstairs, the proportions continue to impress. The primary bedroom spans the full width of the front of the house, with a bay window, extensive built-in wardrobes and enough space for a large bed, dressing area and additional furniture. The two further bedrooms are both genuinely usable, offering flexibility for children, guests, working from home or a combination of all three.
The family bathroom has been finished in a calm, contemporary style, with a freestanding bath, separate shower, large format tiling, recessed storage and a heated towel rail. A stylish ground floor WC adds further practicality, especially for families and entertaining.
Recently renovated to an excellent standard, the house is ready to enjoy from the day you move in. Practical upgrades add further reassurance, including a recently serviced and upgraded boiler, a magnetic boiler filter, a de-scaler and a whole-house water filtration system. It also offers meaningful future potential, with a large untouched loft space that could allow the creation of an additional floor, subject to planning, building regulations and the necessary consents.
This is not a standard three bedroom house. It is a larger, brighter and more refined family home, with the volume, layout, garden and finish that make everyday life feel easier, calmer and more generous. A home with room to grow, space to gather and a quality of light that follows you through the day.

In the owners’ words
“One of the things we will miss most is having coffee in the morning with the doors open, listening to the birds. The house feels incredibly peaceful, especially considering how close everything is.
In summer, it really comes into its own. When the kitchen doors are open, the garden feels like part of the living space. It has been a wonderful house for everyday family life, but also for having people over, with everyone moving easily between the kitchen, dining area, terrace and garden.
The house itself has meant a great deal to us. It was built in 1901, and although we have renovated it for modern family life, we have tried to keep a sense of its character, including details that feel right for the period, from the tiled front approach to the Rosemary-style roof tiles.
Waldeck Road has also given us a real sense of community. It is a street with personality, where people care about where they live. The artwork on and around the road is part of that, with several pieces by local artist James Straffon featuring animals, birds, folklore and local references. It is one of those things that makes the road feel distinctive and loved.
The local food scene is something we have really enjoyed too. Green Lanes, West Green Road and Turnpike Lane are all close by, so there is always somewhere good to eat, pick up fresh food, meet friends for coffee or bring something home for dinner.
You are also very well connected, with transport, shops and restaurants all within easy reach, but because the house is not directly on a main road, it still feels quiet and tucked away.
It has been a very happy home, full of light, warmth and memories. We hope the next owners feel that same sense of calm and belonging here.”

the area
Waldeck Road sits within Duckett’s Green, a sought-after residential pocket between Turnpike Lane, West Green, Harringay and Wood Green. For families looking in this part of North London, its appeal lies in the combination: A peaceful residential street, away from the main road, with parks, transport, food, cafés, groceries, schools and culture all close enough to shape everyday life.
From here, the surrounding neighbourhoods each add something useful. Turnpike Lane brings the Piccadilly line and day-to-day convenience. Green Lanes is known across London for its Turkish and Mediterranean food scene. West Green Road and Philip Lane offer cafés, pubs, brunch spots and family amenities, while Wood Green provides larger shops, supermarkets and high street services.
Green space is one of the area’s strongest family advantages. Downhills Park is likely to become a favourite for weekend walks, tennis, picnics, playtime and coffee in the park, with generous lawns, formal gardens, a café and children’s play areas. Lordship Recreation Ground offers even more space and facilities, including playgrounds, a café, bmx track, skatepark, outdoor gym, paddling pool, sports areas and open lawns for cycling, running and summer afternoons outside. Closer to Turnpike Lane, Ducketts Common adds another useful local green space, with a playground, café, outdoor gym, basketball court and table tennis.
Food is one of the great pleasures of living here. Green Lanes has long been one of London’s best-loved destinations for Turkish and Mediterranean restaurants, with established names such as Gökyüzü, Hala, Antepliler, Diyarbakir Kitchen, Devran Kitchen and Selale forming part of the area’s identity. Towards Wood Green, Kervan Sofrasi adds another well-known local option. Whether it is a relaxed dinner with friends, charcoal-grilled food to bring home, a generous mezze spread or a casual stop after work, the choice is exceptional.
Daily food shopping is equally well served. Yaşar Halim is a local institution for Turkish breads, pastries, baklava, fresh produce and store cupboard staples. Pera Patisserie is another much-loved address for pastries and desserts, while Mum’s Whole Food brings organic groceries, vegan products and whole foods into the local mix. The Dusty Knuckle Harringay adds craft bread, pastries, sandwiches, coffee and pizza nights, giving Green Lanes the kind of independent food culture many buyers actively seek out.
Practical supermarket options are also close by. Tesco Express at Turnpike Lane is useful for quick top-ups, while Sainsbury’s Local on West Green Road covers daily essentials. For larger weekly shops, Wood Green offers a wider choice, including Sainsbury’s, Lidl and Morrisons.
For coffee, brunch and a more relaxed neighbourhood rhythm, there is plenty to enjoy. Pasero on West Green Road has become a favourite for coffee, brunch, wine and dinner, while Forks & Green on Philip Lane offers an easy all-day brunch option. Green on the Lanes brings plants, homeware, coffee and a design-conscious feel to Grand Parade. A little further towards Harringay, 33’s The Old Grocery Store on Salisbury Road works as a café, bakery, cocktail bar and creative space, with live music and art exhibitions adding to its local character.
The pub, music and evening scene gives the area further depth. The Palm on Philip Lane is a welcoming local pub, The Salisbury on Green Lanes is one of the area’s most memorable landmarks, with a richly detailed Grade II* listed interior, and Jam in a Jar brings live music, cocktails and a creative community feel to Green Lanes.
For families with younger children, the neighbourhood is practical as well as enjoyable. West Green Playgroup on Apple Tree Road sits within the local area, while Haringey’s children’s centres and family hub services offer stay-and-play sessions, under-fives activities and family support. Parents should always check current timetables and availability directly, but the wider neighbourhood offers a useful network of parks, playgroups, cafés and family facilities.
Waldeck Road itself has a distinctive sense of identity. Beautiful street art by acclaimed local artist James Straffon can be found on and around the road, often bringing together animals, birds, nature and folklore. It gives the street colour and personality, and reflects the community-minded character that makes this pocket of Haringey feel so appealing.
For buyers who want a proper family home in a quiet setting, without giving up walkable access to food, green space, transport, shops and local culture, Duckett’s Green offers a particularly rewarding way to live in North London.

On-street parking is available via residents’ permit, adding further practicality for families and visitors.
