“We’ve absolutely loved living here, and one of the biggest surprises has been just how peaceful it is. Although the house is conveniently located close to Reading West Station and excellent transport links into London via the Elizabeth Line, you would never know it from inside the house or garden. It’s remarkably quiet and has always felt like a calm retreat at the end of a busy day.
What really makes this street special, though, is the community. It’s a genuinely friendly, family-orientated road where neighbours look out for one another. Whether it’s putting your bins out when you’ve forgotten, taking in a parcel, or simply stopping for a chat, there’s a real sense of warmth and belonging that can be hard to find. From the moment we moved in, we felt welcomed.
The house itself offers far more space than you might expect from a Victorian terrace. We’ve loved the character features, the high ceilings, and the natural light that fills the rooms throughout the day. The spacious main bedroom has always felt like a relaxing sanctuary, while the loft room has provided invaluable additional storage and flexibility.
The private garden has been a wonderful space to unwind, and the layout of the house has worked brilliantly for both everyday living and entertaining family and friends.
Everything you need is within easy reach. There are supermarkets, independent shops, cafés, parks and schools nearby, while Reading town centre is easily accessible. For commuters, the station is just a short walk away, providing excellent connections into London and beyond.
This has been much more than a house for us; it’s been a home in every sense of the word. We’ll miss the wonderful neighbours, the sense of community and the convenience of the location, and we hope the next owners enjoy it as much as we have.”
Kiel's Comments-
Homes like this are exactly why Victorian terraces remain some of Reading’s most sought-after properties.
Behind the attractive façade sits a home that has been comprehensively improved and beautifully styled, successfully combining character features with the practicality expected by modern buyers. From the moment you step through an originally sourced front door, it’s clear the current owner has invested heavily in both the aesthetics and infrastructure of the property.
The bay-fronted sitting room and separate dining room retain all the charm you would hope for from a Victorian home, while the extended kitchen creates a fantastic social space at the heart of the house. Practical additions including a utility room and downstairs WC further enhance day-to-day family living.
Upstairs, you’ll find two well-proportioned bedrooms and a beautifully appointed bathroom complete with a freestanding roll-top bath, delivering a boutique hotel feel rarely found in homes of this type.
What particularly impressed me was the extent of the improvements completed during ownership. The property benefits from a full rewire, replacement boiler, restored original flooring, underfloor heating, extensive replastering, upgraded roofing works, FTTP ultrafast fibre broadband and numerous structural and cosmetic enhancements throughout as well as groundwork to go into the loft space.
For buyers seeking a Victorian terrace in Reading that offers period charm without the worry of major future expenditure, this is a home that deserves serious consideration.
Area View-
This location continues to prove popular with buyers looking for easy access to Reading town centre while remaining part of an established residential community.
Reading West is a few minutes walk and Reading Central Station, offering fast connections into London Paddington, the Elizabeth Line and Crossrail services, is also within easy reach, making the area particularly attractive to commuters. The Oracle shopping centre, riverside restaurants, cafés, gyms and leisure facilities are all nearby, ensuring everything needed for modern living is close at hand.
The area also benefits from a range of highly regarded schools, parks and everyday amenities, making it equally appealing to families and professional couples alike.
For buyers searching for a beautifully finished Victorian home close to Reading town centre, excellent transport links and a vibrant local lifestyle, this position strikes an excellent balance between convenience and character.
