Aston Villa is a handsome detached double fronted Victorian house set at the very end of a quiet residential road at Brimscombe. This south facing location enjoys a superb outlook over the Golden Valley to countryside, with country and canal-side walks within easy reach. The property was built in 1894 using traditional methods under a pitched roof. It has been the family house of our client for nearly 50 years, and has been extended in that time at the rear, creating a long kitchen/breakfast room that stretches across the rear of the house. The accommodation is arranged over two floors, with the layout typical of the Victorian 'villa' vernacular. You walk through a glazed porch into an entrance hall with tessellated tiled floor with reception rooms to either side. A sitting room with fireplace, wood burning stove and stone mantlepiece is to the left, with dining room with fireplace and alcove shelving is to the right. Both of these rooms have windows that look out over the garden and the valley beyond. The kitchen is at the rear of the house. This room measures 28', with plenty of space for table at one end. There are two external doors at either end of this room - one of which opens onto the garden - so parents can keep an eye on children playing in the garden whilst cooking. There is a useful cloakroom/W.C off the kitchen. The original staircase leads up from the hall to the first floor, with a landing, three bedrooms and a bathroom on this floor. The best bedrooms and the landing have windows at the front, bringing sun and the view into the property. An excellent family house, available with no onward chain.

Outside you'll find parking, a garage and a large garden, with a total plot size of 0.219 acres. This land is all set to the front of the property, with the garage situated at the bottom of the site. This is detached, measuring 15'11" x 8'2" with double doors to the front and a window to the side. The parking area is to the side of this - do please note that the neighbour has vehicular access over the drive leading to the property. The garden then stretches up to the house with a path leading up through the lower area. This has been very productive in the past, with vegetable beds and a prospective buyer may look to re instate these. The upper garden is laid to lawn, with shallow steps up to the front door and a paved area immediately by the house. The view out over the garden into the countryside of the Golden Valley is rather special.

Brimscombe is a popular area a couple of miles East of Stroud and borders both the Golden Valley and the Toadsmoor Valley. The Long Table, Stroud Brewery, The Ship Inn and The Felt Cafe are close by, and are all superb community spaces, with well regarded Brimscombe and Thrupp primary schools and a convenience store within a mile. Stroud’s shops and amenities are within easy reach, with canal side walks at the bottom of the hill and some wonderful countryside just up the hill at Toadsmoor Lake and the surrounding woodland. As such, the property enjoys the advantages of being equidistant between open countryside and the lively town of Stroud, which offers a wide range of shops, supermarkets, schools and colleges and leisure facilities. Both Stroud and Kemble Railway Stations provides a main-line service to Gloucester and London. The popular towns of Cirencester and Cheltenham and Junctions of the M4 and M5 Motorway are also within easy driving distance.

Agents Note

The property is available with no onward chain, although the sale remains subject to probate being granted.
