Your First Home, Ready And Waiting. No diy list. No weekend trips to B&Q. No lying awake wondering what the last owner did to the boiler. Just keys, a kettle, and the bit where you finally get to say it's yours.
Gleeson Homes built this place in 2024, and it still feels like nobody has really lived in it yet - in the best possible way. The carpets are clean, the walls are fresh, and the NHBC warranty runs until 2034, which means if anything does decide to misbehave structurally, it is someone else's problem to fix. That is quite a thing when you are buying your first home and every YouTube video about boilers has already kept you up past midnight.
The living room is a decent size - properly comfortable for a sofa, a TV and a friend who comes round and never seems to leave. Everything is neutral and inoffensive, which sounds like faint praise but actually means you can make it look like yours without having to spend a weekend painting over someone else's bold choices in terracotta.
The kitchen runs through to the back of the house, where French doors open straight out onto the garden. It has integrated appliances and just enough room for a drop-leaf table if you want to eat somewhere other than the sofa. There is also a downstairs WC off the kitchen, which is one of those things you do not think about until you do not have one, and then you think about it constantly.
Upstairs, two double bedrooms sit either side of a bathroom that is tiled floor to ceiling in a neutral stone-effect finish, with a full-size bath, an overhead shower and a glass screen. It is the kind of bathroom that makes a new build feel like it has been taken seriously rather than just ticked off a list.
The garden is one of the genuine surprises here. For a new build - and especially a two-bed - it is a proper size. There is a patio right off the French doors for the days when you want to drink a coffee outside without actually committing to being outdoors, and a large lawn beyond it that gets sun for most of the day. The fencing is solid and private, and the whole space has plenty of scope to evolve as your plans do. There is also a long driveway at the front with room for two or three cars, plus a lawned front garden - so parking is one less thing to think about.
The property sits on the Rowans estate on the western edge of Workington. The bus stop is less than five minutes on foot, with services running into town. If you are driving, Workington town centre is about five minutes away. Whitehaven and Cockermouth are both roughly ten minutes up the road, so the wider area is easy to reach whenever you need it.
If you have been waiting for a first home that hands you the keys and nothing else to worry about, this is a very straightforward answer to that question - get in touch to arrange a viewing.
