Voted Best South East Village To Live In 2026 by The Sunday Times.

When you imagine a cottage in a picturesque village, there are certain things that immediately come to mind.

An open fire, sitting on the sofa listening to the crackle. A kitchen with a table where you can enjoy your morning coffee or settle down for an evening meal. And an outer porch, somewhere to dry the dogs, kick off the boots and hang up the jackets after a walk. 3 Jubilee Cottages has all of this, and so much more.

Inside, the cottage has that wonderfully cosy feel you hope for, with two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and two reception rooms, each space making the most of its character and charm. As is often the case with a character cottage, the ground floor bathroom is particularly practical. Remodelled as a stylish shower room, it sits comfortably within the character of the house while providing the functionality you need day to day. Upstairs, both bedrooms are good sized doubles, with bedroom one enjoying its own en suite. So, when friends or family come to stay, there is no compromise on privacy or comfort. Outside, the garden is another real feature. A cobbled paved patio leads onto a lawned garden that enjoys sunshine throughout the day, while a pergola at the far end creates a lovely spot to sit, whether it is a summer evening or a crisp autumn afternoon. And then there is the garage, providing that all important additional parking and storage that is so often missing from a cottage of this type. There is something wonderfully comforting about 3 Jubilee Cottages. Character, warmth and practicality, all wrapped up in a home that feels particularly inviting as we head into autumn.

Life in Lindfield

Located along Scaynes Hill Road, access into the heart of Lindfield is via Lewes Road, passing the Common before arriving in the High Street. And the Common is a real part of village life. In summer, you can watch the cricket at the weekends, while football takes centre stage in the winter. There are tennis courts, the bowls club and plenty of open green space to enjoy throughout the year. And on a Friday evening, the fish and chip van at the top of the Common is something of a local tradition.

Lindfield itself is a thriving village with a wonderful sense of community. The High Street is lined with independent shops, local services and a great choice of places to eat and drink. For a relaxed pub lunch, The Bent Arms is a favourite, whilst Le Flamant is perfect for something a little more special. Tamasha, overlooking the village pond, offers excellent Indian cuisine, and Lindfield Coffee Works and Duck’s Hot Subs are perfect for a morning coffee.

For families, both Blackthorns Primary and Lindfield Primary Academy are within easy reach, with Oathall Community College also close by. Great Walstead is just over half a mile away for those considering independent education. For commuters, Haywards Heath station is less than two miles away, with regular trains to London Bridge and London Victoria taking around 47 minutes, whilst Brighton is around 20 minutes by train. And beyond the village, there is plenty to explore. Wakehurst Place, Nymans and Sheffield Park are all within easy reach, whilst Brighton is around 15 miles to the south. Crawley, Gatwick and the A/M23 are also easily accessible, making this a wonderfully connected village location without losing that feeling of being somewhere slightly removed from it all.
