Introduction

Fernbank has evolved considerably through extension and modernisation, resulting in a home that combines the character of its established setting with a much more contemporary style of living.

The accommodation is principally arranged on a reverse-level basis, placing the main living areas where they can best take advantage of the property's position and natural light. The kitchen has been modernised to provide a stylish and practical centrepiece to the home, complemented by well-presented living and dining areas suitable for both everyday life and entertaining. The bedrooms provide comfortable private accommodation, while the bathrooms have similarly been updated and modernised to create a cohesive and well-finished interior. Throughout, the improvements have been undertaken with an emphasis on creating a relaxed coastal home that is easy to enjoy, whether occupied throughout the year or used as a second home.

The Gardens

The gardens are unquestionably one of Fernbank’s defining features.

Extending around the property, they have a wonderfully established and almost subtropical feel, with mature specimen trees, flowering shrubs, impressive hydrangeas and architectural planting creating colour and interest throughout the grounds.

Generous areas of lawn sweep away from the house, while the mature boundaries and surrounding vegetation give the gardens an excellent degree of seclusion. Carefully positioned terraces and sitting-out areas provide places for outdoor dining, entertaining or simply enjoying the sunshine. One particularly attractive raised decked terrace is tucked against traditional stone walling and mature hedging, creating a sheltered outdoor entertaining space.

Paths and steps meander through the grounds, connecting the different areas of garden and adding to the property's sense of space and discovery. For a village property, the combination of privacy, mature gardens and garaging is particularly appealing.
