Stanhope offers a bus link to the upper Weardale villages and onwards to Bishop Auckland, Durham, Sunderland, and Newcastle and a rail link which should be re-opening soon.
Bishop Auckland is a historic market town with plenty to explore. Visit Auckland Palace, the former home of the Prince Bishops of Durham, explore the Spanish Gallery and Mining Art Gallery, or enjoy a walk through the beautiful Deer Park.
