About this property

    Guide Price £1,000,000 - £1,100,000

Remarkable period details and grand proportions directly on the seafront....

Brunswick Terrace has always been one of the defining addresses along this stretch of the coast. Facing the sea and forming part of the historic Brunswick Town estate, its Regency architecture gives this part of Hove a character of its own. This ground-floor apartment sits particularly well within that setting, with the proportions and original detail that make these buildings so special.

The main living room is a beautiful example. Tall sash windows bring plenty of natural light into a room framed by intricate cornicing, a decorative ceiling rose and original fireplace. There is a real sense of volume here, with enough space for sitting and dining to exist comfortably alongside one another.

The kitchen has a different character. A high, vaulted ceiling and windows on two sides bring in plenty of light, with space for a large dining table at its centre. Throughout the apartment, stained glass appears in unexpected places, bringing colour into the hallways and adding another layer to the period detailing.

The principal bedroom is undoubtedly the standout. Generous proportions are complemented by an extraordinary decorative ceiling, centred around an intricate stained-glass panel and surrounded by ornate plasterwork. A freestanding bath sits beneath the windows, making the most of what is already a particularly memorable room.

The second bedroom is another good double, while two bathrooms give the layout plenty of flexibility. The larger of the two has twin basins, a freestanding roll-top bath and separate walk-in shower.

Location is a large part of the appeal here. Hove Lawns and the promenade are immediately in front of you, while Western Road sits just behind and has some of the best independent food and drink in this part of the city. Brunswick Square and Palmeira Square are close by too, with central Brighton in one direction and the heart of Hove in the other.

There are plenty of beautiful apartments along the seafront, but the combination of scale, original detail and position found at Brunswick Terrace is increasingly difficult to replicate.
