Our thoughts
There’s something immediately likeable about this cottage. It has all the character you would hope for, but the owners have given the living space a fresher, more individual feel that works really well.
The living room is cosy without feeling overly traditional, with the log burner providing a natural focal point. The contemporary fitted kitchen offers plenty of storage together with integrated appliances, while the adjoining utility area is practical with a breakfast bar overlooking the rear patio.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, including a generous principal double, together with a stylish shower room.
For us, though, the outside space is one of the biggest surprises.
Beyond the patio, steps lead up to a generous lawned garden and the detached garden house. Previously used as a studio, it has its own kitchenette, WC and Belfast sink and offers brilliant additional space away from the main house. We've reimagined this in the photos with a Scandi studio office vibe (ai generated).
For someone working from home, running a creative business, wanting a gym or hobby room, or simply looking for somewhere completely separate to escape to, it’s a huge bonus.
Area
Location-wise Compstall Road places you within easy reach of both Marple Bridge and Marple with independent cafés, shops, restaurants and everyday amenities nearby.
For commuters, there's a bus stop close by and Marple railway station provides regular services towards Manchester, while the surrounding area offers some fantastic countryside and walking routes.
