About this property

What if moving to a retirement apartment didn’t feel like giving something up, but like giving yourself more freedom?

    Welcome to 39 Waterford Place.

If you value your independence, enjoy having space around you and intend to continue living life very much on your own terms, this south-facing, two-bedroom apartment gives you a wonderful place from which to do exactly that.

Here, you can bring familiar pieces of furniture with you, have family and friends to stay, enjoy breakfast outside on your own balcony and walk into town whenever it suits you. And when you come home, you have the reassurance of a friendly community and thoughtful support around you, while your own front door closes on a home that remains entirely yours.

And because you are on the second and top floor, with nobody living above you, you can enjoy an elevated outlook, high ceilings and a lovely feeling of light and space.

Your own space, your own way

Picture yourself settling into your favourite chair with a book, inviting a friend over for a cup of tea, or opening up the dining table when family come for lunch.

There is space for familiar pieces of furniture to come with you, so from the beginning you can surround yourself with the things that make home feel like home.

Your kitchen is separate from the living room, giving you a proper place to cook, with integrated appliances and plenty of storage. A walk-in utility cupboard keeps the washing machine and household essentials neatly out of sight, while underfloor heating means you can arrange your furniture without radiators dictating where everything needs to go.

And then there is the balcony.

Your own balcony, with life beyond

Open the door from your sitting room on a sunny morning, take breakfast outside and enjoy the open outlook towards the green expanse of Westmead Open Space beyond.

From here, you can watch children playing, young people enjoying the recreational ground and families coming and going from the activities nearby. There is a gentle sense of being connected to the wider community and to the everyday rhythm of life around you, all from the comfort of your own home.

Yet from your elevated position, that life remains pleasantly in the distance. Your outlook feels peaceful and open, with greenery and sky in front of you, while the gentle rhythm of people coming and going brings warmth and life to the view.

Space for you, and space for the people you love

Your principal bedroom gives you the luxury of a walk-in wardrobe, so clothes, shoes and belongings have a proper place of their own. Your en-suite shower room is right beside you, making mornings wonderfully straightforward.

Then there is your second double bedroom.

When family or friends come to stay, they have a comfortable bedroom of their own, together with a second shower room. Between visits, it becomes whatever suits your life: Perhaps somewhere to sew or paint, a study, a room for a favourite hobby, or simply additional space to enjoy.

And having two bedrooms does not limit the number of people who can visit you. If more family or friends would like to stay, a comfortable guest suite can be booked through the House Manager, allowing them to remain close to you while enjoying their own private space.

Your home, with A community around you

How sociable you choose to be remains entirely up to you.

Perhaps you will enjoy meeting neighbours in the residents’ lounge for a coffee morning, a film or one of the regular music evenings. On a summer afternoon, you might prefer to sit outside on the residents’ patio or spend some time in the communal gardens. And on other days, you may simply choose to return to your apartment and enjoy your own company.

That is the lovely balance here. You can become part of the community around you without ever surrendering your privacy or independence.

And there is reassurance quietly working in the background too.

From your apartment, you can speak to the House Manager and open the main entrance remotely through the intercom, while key-fob access controls the front and side entrances.

Safety pull cords in both shower rooms and the hallway connect to a 24-hour emergency call service, and you also have a personal call button that can be worn around your neck. It means that should you ever need assistance, you have a way of calling for it.

A lift takes you between floors, and mobility scooter storage and charging is also available, subject to availability.

The support is there. Your independence remains your own.
    Leave the car behind

One of the real pleasures of living at 39 Waterford Place is how much of everyday life you can continue to do independently.

Walk along Westmead Lane and within a few minutes you can be at Waitrose. Carry on and Borough Parade, the High Street and Emery Gate put shops and everyday essentials within easy reach, with Tesco, the library and museum nearby too.

If you would prefer to take the bus, stops at the top of Westmead Lane connect you with the surrounding area. And when you have somewhere further afield in mind, Chippenham railway station gives you direct connections east towards Swindon, Reading and London and west towards Bath, Bristol and the West Country.

So whether you are meeting a friend in town, doing the shopping, spending the day in Bath or setting off to visit family, you have choices about how you get there.

Your next chapter, on your terms

Perhaps that is what life at 39 Waterford Place really offers you: Choice.

You can have breakfast on your balcony in the morning, walk into town during the day and welcome family for supper in the evening.

You can enjoy the company of your neighbours when it suits you and the privacy of your own home when it does not.

You can have family to stay, keep doing the things you enjoy and continue getting out and about independently, with thoughtful reassurance around you should you ever need it.

You are not simply choosing an easier home to look after.

You are choosing more freedom to enjoy the life you have made.

    Welcome home.
