Property Insight
Set on a quiet close in the popular village of Burwell, this end-of-terrace home has been well cared for by its current owners, who have refitted the kitchen and landscaped the rear garden. The end position gives it a wider plot than most on the close, with the garden wrapping round the side, and the garage and off-road parking make day-to-day life on the edge of the village easy. It makes a sensible first purchase or a comfortable home for a young family.

Inside, the accommodation runs well. A hallway leads to a ground-floor WC and through to the lounge/dining room, which stretches from the front of the house to the rear and opens onto the garden through French doors, finished with wood-effect flooring that carries through the ground floor. The refitted kitchen is the highlight - sage shaker-style units, solid wood worktops, a metro-tiled splashback, an induction hob and a chimney extractor, with a window over the sink looking onto the garden. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, the principal taking a skylight to the rear, and a third room currently arranged as a home office. The family bathroom is in the process of being updated, leaving a new owner the chance to finish it to their own taste.

Outside, the rear garden is a real feature - longer than many on the close, laid to lawn with two separate patio areas, established borders and mature planting that give it colour and privacy through the seasons. To the front, a single garage with a pedestrian door to the rear sits alongside block-paved parking.

Location - Burwell
Burwell is a pretty parish village 4 miles from the market town of Newmarket and 10 miles northeast of Cambridge, lying on the southeast edge of the Fens with good transport links along the A14. It is steeped in history, with two conservation areas, the earthwork remains of Burwell Castle - a scheduled monument - and nearly 60 listed buildings. The Grade I listed parish church of St Mary the Virgin dates back earlier than the 15th Century and has an active membership with events throughout the year, alongside a Baptist church and a Trinity church.

An annual carnival in June raises money for charity, with a parade travelling to the recreation ground for stalls and fairground rides. The village has two village halls and three public houses - The Fox, which often hosts street food vans, The Five Bells and The Anchor, now serving Thai food - plus allotments, a café, a fish and chip shop, a doctor’s surgery, a nursery, a Montessori and a primary school. Wicken Fen Nature Reserve is within striking distance.
