Seller's View
"White Cottage has been such a lovely place to call home. It's always had a really warm and welcoming feel, and one of the things i've loved most is how versatile the space is. It's brilliant when I have family and friends over for big get-togethers, but somehow still feels cosy and comfortable when it's just me at home.
The size and layout have worked so well, and having recently refurbished the house, i've been able to enjoy all the benefits of modern living whilst keeping that lovely cottage character.
The garden has been another real highlight. It's a fantastic space for children to play when family visits, for entertaining friends or simply relaxing outside, without needing lots of maintenance. I've also been lucky to have lovely neighbours, including young families, which has added to that friendly, welcoming feeling.
The location is something i've really appreciated too. There are some wonderful walks straight from the doorstep, particularly towards Blackbushe, Pathfinders and Castle Bottom Nature Reserve. It's such a lovely area for getting outdoors, especially if you have children or dogs, and being close to popular local schools is another real bonus.
Above all, i've always felt incredibly safe, comfortable and happy here. White Cottage has given me so much space to enjoy time with family and friends, while still feeling like a cosy home when it's just me.
I'm only moving because it's time for me to downsize, and I really hope the next owners enjoy living here as much as I have."
Jack's Comments
What I love about White Cottage is that you're getting the best of both worlds. It's a character home in a lovely, non-estate location, but when you step inside, it almost feels like you're walking into a brand-new house. It's been extended and refurbished to such a high standard, and I think that's what makes it a bit special.
For me, the kitchen/dining room is a real standout feature. It's a fantastic space, with a large central island and plenty of room for everyone to get together. I can just imagine family meals, friends popping round and those bigger occasions where everyone ends up gathering in the kitchen and you have the sliding doors connecting you seamlessly to the garden which is also super social.
I really like how the ground floor flows too. The living room is open to the kitchen/dining area, so everything feels connected and sociable, but it still manages to have that cosy, comfortable feel you'd want from a cottage. It's a layout that works just as well when you're relaxing at home as it does when you've got a house full of people.
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, all offering really useful space, along with a family bathroom and an en suite to the main bedroom. There's also a modern shower room downstairs, which is always handy. With around 1,700 sq ft of accommodation overall, there's plenty of flexibility, whether you've got a growing family, need space for guests or want to work from home.
Another thing worth mentioning is just how much has already been done to the house. Alongside the lovely finish throughout, you've got a modern Megaflo hot water system and underfloor heating in the kitchen/dining room and downstairs shower room. It's those practical improvements that make a real difference to everyday living, and it's nice knowing you're moving into a home where so much of the hard work has already been taken care of.
Outside is another big selling point. The garden is a great size without being too demanding to look after, and there's generous driveway parking for several cars too, which is something I know a lot of buyers will appreciate.
And then there's the location. Vigo Lane is a lovely spot in Yateley, particularly if you want to avoid the feel of a typical housing estate. You've got popular local schools nearby, and some brilliant walks around Castle Bottom Nature Reserve, Blackbushe and Pathfinders. It's great having all that outdoor space so close to home.
I think the real appeal of White Cottage is that you don't have to choose between character and modern living. You get the individuality, charm and setting of an older home, but with the space, finish and practicality you'd normally associate with something much newer.
The current owner has clearly loved living here, and you can understand why. If you're looking for something a little different from the usual family homes, where you can move straight in and enjoy everything that's already been done, i'd definitely recommend coming to have a look. I think White Cottage is going to surprise a few people.
Area View – Vigo Lane and Yateley
Vigo Lane is an established residential road in Yateley, offering a lovely mix of individual homes, mature surroundings and a setting that feels a little more tucked away from the busier parts of town. It's an ideal location for anyone looking for a quieter place to live without sacrificing convenience, with local schools, shops, countryside walks and everyday amenities all within easy reach.
Yateley itself has a fantastic community feel. There's a good selection of local shops, cafés, pubs and everyday amenities, with Waitrose particularly handy for the weekly shop. You've also got plenty of local clubs, sports facilities and community events, so it's the sort of place where people tend to settle down and stay for years.
For families, the local schools are a big attraction. Yateley has a great choice of primary and secondary schools, including Yateley School, and Vigo Lane is well placed for several local options. It's always worth checking individual catchment areas, but it's certainly a location that appeals to families looking to put down roots.
One of the biggest highlights of living here has to be the outdoor space. Castle Bottom Nature Reserve is nearby and offers some beautiful walks through heathland and woodland. You've also got lovely routes towards Blackbushe and Pathfinders, which are ideal for dog walks, family adventures or simply getting outside for some fresh air. It's a real bonus having so much countryside to enjoy without needing to get in the car.
Despite that quieter, greener setting, Yateley is really well positioned for getting around. The M3 is easily accessible, and nearby railway stations at Sandhurst, Blackwater and Fleet provide useful connections for commuters. Camberley, Farnborough and Fleet are also within easy reach for a wider choice of shopping, restaurants and leisure facilities.
I think what makes Vigo Lane particularly appealing is that balance between character, community and convenience. You can enjoy a home that feels a little more individual, with wonderful walks and green spaces close by, while still having schools, shops and transport links within easy reach.
It's a lovely part of Yateley and somewhere that offers a fantastic lifestyle, whether you're raising a family, enjoy getting outdoors or simply want to live somewhere with a genuine sense of community.
