Moving tips

Getting organised is the key to a successful Move Day. Our guides will help you keep track of everything you need to do to get life in your new home off to a great start.

Top tips for moving

We've included in our guides a list of the 5 jobs to get done before Move Day:

  1. Measurements:

If the new home you're renting is unfurnished or you plan to bring your own furniture, arrange a visit to the property in advance of the Move – ideally six weeks – to take measurements of the doorframes, turns in the stairwells and hallways, so you can see if everything will fit before you move.

If you are planning on changing your furniture, see our guide: '5 important questions when changing your sofa'.

  2. Broadband

Most providers need at least 30 days' notice to activate your broadband so you should sort this out in advance of moving in.

It's also a good opportunity to see what's available on the market and find out if there's a cheaper broadband deal for you. We've partnered with uSwitch to compare broadband deals and help you check your potential broadband speed at your new postcode.

What else should I consider when moving?
