There are a number of well-regarded schools in the local area that cater for all ages. These include Beaconhill Primary and Northburn Primary schools, which are around five minutes' drive from the development. Others, all within 10 minutes' drive of Foxton Mill include Hareside, Shanklea, Burnside and Eastlea primaries, Cragside CE Primary and Stannington First School. For older students, secondary providers include Cramlington Learning Village, less than 10 minutes away by car and George Stephenson High School, around 15 minutes' drive away.
Cramlington railway station is around five minutes' drive from Foxton Mill, with regular trains to Morpeth, Newcastle and Carlisle. Mainline services can be accessed from Newcastle Central Station to destinations all over the UK. A network of local buses links the area with surrounding towns and villages and Foxton Mill is within convenient distance of several major roads. These include the A1 (for Edinburgh, York, Doncaster and London), and the A19 (for Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Thirsk and York). For domestic and international flights, Newcastle Airport is around 15 minutes away by car, via Prestwick Road.
Surrounded by green fields, the location of Foxton Mill lends itself to outdoor activities, such as walking and running. Cramlington is very cycle-friendly, with a number of cycle routes, including one that connects the town with Blyth beach, seven miles away. Landscape sculpture and community park Northumberlandia is virtually on the doorstep - 10 minutes' walk from the development - and Plessey Woods Country Park, popular with families, is less than 10 minutes' drive away. The nearest multi-screen cinema is situated next to Manor Walks, and Concordia Leisure Centre, which has a swimming pool, gym, fitness studios and sports courts is on the same site.
Cramlington's main commercial centre, Manor Walks, is just a few minutes' drive from Foxton Mill. It is home to a variety of well-known chain stores as well as independent retailers. Several large supermarkets, high-street and homewares stores are situated adjacent to the shopping centre, and there are a number of caf?s and restaurants located within it, or close by. Morpeth is another popular shopping destination and lies eight miles to the north of the development, while Newcastle city centre, which boasts a multitude of department and chain stores, designer boutiques and specialist providers, is just 20 minutes' drive away.
