In spite of this, Ortona is a pleasing seaside resort with many shops, bars and restaurants to cater for its 24,013 inhabitants. There is also a weekly market which is held every Thursday, in the town centre.
It is close to the delightful Trabocchi coast and Ortonas Aragon Castle, built in 1448. Both are worth a visit.
