This apartment would make a lovely base to travel around Abruzzo and further afield. The property is within walking distance to the main centre with some shops, bars and restaurants. Castel Di Ieri is very popular with tourists, all year round, so would make ideal accommodation for a holiday let. The property benefits from many original features.
The apartment is accessed from the street into a communal stairway with only two apartments on each level. This property is on the ground level and consists of a very large living/sleeping area with open fireplace, kitchen and bathroom.
There is also a large cantina, used for storage, below the property.
Castel DI ieri - L"aquila province
The small, fortified village of Castel di Ieri is perched on a small plateau 519 metres above sea level. It is located within the Sirente regional national park and is surrounded by hills used mainly for agricultural activities.
Castel di Ieri is still characterised by the majestic square tower that dominates the ancient village. One of its major attractions is certainly the historic centre which is one of the best preserved in the province of l-Aquila. The medieval streets radiate and intertwine throughout the town up to the tower.
There are a few food shops, post office and a couple of bars and restaurants to serve the population of 311.
The Abruzzo Museum of Graphic Arts can be found here showing works by 19th Century masters, Abruzzo engravers and paintings from the new generation of local and foreign artists.
Castel di Ieri has many annual religious and cultural events. Amongst the most recent, is the Castel di Ieri Rock Nights which takes place each August and appeals to young and old alike.
For those who love to try new food, the local recipe of Micischia is a must. Now rare to find it is closely linked to the world of shepherds and is a richly flavoured sheep meat, dried and shredded into strips.
