The gorge is an important nature reserve, home to a family of about eight wolves and a vast range of flowers. San Martino has an information centre which promotes the Majella National Park. Aside from being a lovely town with bright sunny streets, its population of 1,312 is served with supermarkets, food shops, general stores, pharmacy, banks and post office.
