The UK’s most viewed properties on Zoopla: a castle, cliffside abode and charming period property
With the beginning of the year marking one of the busiest periods for home hunters, and housing demand up 49% compared to the recent new year average, Zoopla has revealed the top 10 properties that have caught the eyes of Brits over the month of January.
A spectacular five-bedroom property, takes the crown as the UK’s most viewed property. Located above the famous Whaligoe Steps in Scotland, it dates back to 1860 and has breathtaking views of the sea and rugged coastline, as well as an expansive garden.
In second place is a similarly impressive former brewery and pub. Located in Glamorgan, Wales and on sale for £700,000, this one of a kind home has an expansive games room and gym, as well as intricate stonework, bespoke etched windows and beautiful woodwork throughout.
Period properties are also proving popular with home hunters and a Grade II listed Georgian gatehouse in North Yorkshire with a charming interior also features on the most viewed list. On sale for £225,0000, the compact property can be found on the edge of the Grimston Park Estate in North Yorkshire which has been visited by the British monarchy and also appeared in the Doomsday Book.
For those looking for something more spacious, ‘Cliff House’ is the most viewed property in the East of England and ranks in ninth place nationally. This beautiful Victorian home has a lot to offer buyers searching for a seaside retreat including stunning sea views, a large heated swimming pool and two driveways.
While for those dreaming of their happy ever after, a fairytale castle in the Isle of Bute is surely the perfect pad with its towers, turrets, original fireplaces and stained glass windows, as well as its very own magical Victorian fernery.
Daniel Copley, Consumer Spokesperson at Zoopla comments: “There are truly some spectacular homes currently for sale across the country - with everything on offer in locations ranging from the rolling countryside to rugged cliffsides and coastal towns, there’s something for every type of buyer.”
