We're moving on from our much-loved home, an old shopfront that we completely redesigned with an architect, and are looking for a couple who will enjoy it as much as we have. It's a unique, character-filled maisonette spread over the ground floor and basement, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, finished with real attention to detail.
The ground floor is one big open-plan kitchen/living space, with huge double-glazed shopfront windows that flood the room with light (and keep the place warm and cosy in winter). Custom-made curtains fit the unique layout, and the exposed brickwork adds warmth and texture. The kitchen is custom-built and includes a brand new Rangemaster oven, a huge American fridge freezer with double drawers, dishwasher and microwave.
Downstairs, the primary bedroom has a striking double-height window/door that runs up to the ground floor, filling the space with natural light and connecting to the patio outside. Because of this design, the room isn't fully private, so the flat is best suited to a couple. The second bedroom has been used by us as a cinema room/dj room with inbuilt soundproofing, but it works just as well as a guest bedroom or home office. It has windows onto the pavement and a light well from upstairs.
There are two bathrooms: One with a full-sized bath and one with a walk-in rainfall shower. Both are beautifully tiled and finished to a high standard. Throughout the basement level there's built-in storage in both bedrooms and along the corridor. There are also two other large storage spaces below the stairs and on the ground floor.
Outside, there's a shared patio that backs onto a private mews (we've kept it open and friendly with our neighbours from the house next door but it could be made private with trellis if you wanted). There's also a brick shed for extra storage, and we've cat-proofed the patio so perfect if you have indoor cats that would enjoy a safe roam around outside.

The area: The flat is in a beautiful part of Bethnal Green and part of a number of streets with colourful shops front homes. It's just a few minutes' walk from Broadway Market, Columbia Road, London Fields and Victoria Park. Bethnal Green, Cambridge Heath and Hoxton stations are all nearby, and you can be at Liverpool Street in no time. The street itself has a great community feel with a brilliant local coffee shop and corner shop less than a minute away.
We've loved living here with our baby and cats, and the house has been a brilliant home for hosting friends, working on creative projects, and enjoying the neighbourhood.
