Five bedroom farmhouse with an attached two bedroom cottage
Enclosed south facing gardens
Private drive and ample parking
A substantial and charming 18th Century five bedroom thatched cottage and two bedroom fully furnished barn conversion set in the heart of the village of Winterborne Stickland.
Stickland Farmhouse is a large five bedroom family home and an attached fully furnished two bedroom barn conversion known as the Old Dairy. The landlords have been successfully holiday letting the Old Dairy for several years; alternatively, it would make an ideal guest cottage for extended family use. The main house itself has a wealth of features typical to this type of property including an inglenook fireplace and beamed ceilings. There is an excellent arrangement of reception rooms and the property benefits from a large, well fitted farmhouse kitchen with Aga. The first floor offers five generously sized bedrooms served by three bathroom/shower rooms.
The attached Old Dairy barn conversion is fully furnished, offering a modern kitchen, high ceilings, two double bedrooms and its own driveway. This could be rented separately under a licence agreement-please contact the agent for further information.
A particular feature of Stickland Farm is the well-kept south facing gardens with the main living accommodation overlooking most of the garden. There are gated entrances on both sides of the property, one opening into a small courtyard and garden in front of the private studio barn conversion. The main garden also features a vegetable plot, small orchard, tool shed and greenhouse. The gardens will continue to be maintained by the owners' gardener.
Situation
Winterborne Stickland is a popular village located in one of the pretty valleys to the west of Blandford Forum, a stone’s throw from Bulbarrow and Milton Abbey in an area of National Landscape. The village has a thriving community with a church, a pub, sports ground, nursery school and busy village hall. For a wider range of shops and services it is only a short drive into Blandford with its historic Georgian market square, M&S Food Hall, Tesco and Lidl superstore. Easy access onto the A31 makes commuting to Poole, Ferndown and Bournemouth very straightforward and a quick link to the M27 takes you further afield to Southampton and Portsmouth, and up to London via the M3.
There are lots of good opportunities for sport and recreation in the area, with lovely walking, riding and cycling in the countryside around the village. There are plenty of local sports clubs with Poole Harbour and Studland Bay for water sports and sailing. Dorset's renowned Jurassic Coastline is within 45 minutes drive to the south. This part of Dorset has also become well known for its excellent choice of schools. There is a popular primary school in Winterborne Whitechurch, secondary schools in Blandford and Dorchester and a wide selection of independent schools nearby including Milton Abbey, Bryanston, Sherborne, Canford and Clayesmore as well as Hanford, Sandroyd, Castle Court and Dumpton prep schools.
