The Old Post Office, as the name suggests, was the original post office for the village and as such the conversion to a residential dwelling made for an amazing living space. As you enter from the street, you are welcomed by a very decent hallway, which the current tenants use as a study area. There is a downstairs WC with storage area and a very handy understairs storage cupboard, doubling up as a tumble dryer room.
Once you pass through the hall, you come through to the vast living space which is the real gem of this cottage and is full of character. There is an enormous, full width, bay window to the front and the original fireplace (capped off) makes a great spot for a large screen TV. The room opens up to the dining area which is easily large enough to accommodate a table seating 6-8 (or more) or, as the current tenants have, a piano or further study area.
From here is access to the kitchen which is, again, a very generous size and also accessed via the hallway. There is a range of low and high-level cupboards with a wood worktop running around all four walls. It comes complete with dishwasher, oven, hob, washing machine and large upright American style fridge/freezer.
Upstairs has a really charming cottage feeling with nooks and crannies dotted around. The master bedroom suite to the front is comfortably large enough for a kingsize bed with bedside units and huge built in wardrobes with sliding doors. These are deep enough to allow for further storage place behind your hanging clothing. There is also an ensuite shower room with WC, basin and towel rail. Off the hallway are two very quaint single bedrooms, one of which has a built-in storage cupboard and could take a double bed if needed. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC and basin.
The rear garden is a lovely spot with a patio area and steps up to the lawn. There is also a path leading through to the two allocated parking spaces at the back of the cottage.
South Cerney has a host of fantastic local amenities including three pubs, Indian restaurant, sandwich shop, coffee shop, fish & chip shop, chemist, doctor surgery, vets, village hall, two churches, a primary school, pre-school playgroup, a Spar and a Co-Op. That's in addition to being in the heart of the Cotswold Water Park with countless lakes for all varieties of water sports. Commuting connections to London are a breeze with direct trains to Paddington from Kemble (78 mins) 4 miles away or Swindon (58 mins) 12.5 miles away. The A419 gives access to the M4 Jct 15 (16 miles) whilst Cirencester is only 4 miles and Cheltenham 20 miles away. As well as the local village school there are a number of secondary schools in and around Cirencester along with great private and grammar schools.
