Location
Grundisburgh is a traditional Suffolk village centred around its picturesque green. The village offers a range of local amenities including The Dog public house, a village grocer, hardware store, Post Office and doctors’ surgery. A stream runs across the green with St Mary’s Church and the former Victorian school building, now converted into residential accommodation, creating a charming setting.
The village also benefits from a playing field with an all-weather tennis court and bowls club. There is an active amateur dramatic group and a number of local organisations catering for all ages. The primary school is highly regarded, as is Farlingaye High School in nearby Woodbridge.
Woodbridge is an historic market town situated on the River Deben and offers a wide range of facilities including state and independent schools, a cinema, leisure centre and swimming pool. The town also provides an array of boutique shops alongside national retailers, cafés and restaurants, as well as a railway station with services to Ipswich and onwards to London Liverpool Street.
The county town of Ipswich lies approximately five miles to the south and offers extensive shopping, restaurants and leisure facilities. The waterfront along the River Orwell has been redeveloped to include a marina, restaurants and bars. Ipswich also offers a football club, several theatres and a large entertainment complex. Trains from Ipswich to London Liverpool Street take approximately 60 minutes.
