The beaches at the National Trust reserve at East Head and neighbouring West and East Wittering attract many windsurfers, and provide a local centre for the more recent sports of landboarding and kitesurfing. The rich and varied countryside of the South Downs is easily to hand and has recently been designated as a National Park.

Communications are good with the A27 providing vehicle access to various centres along the South Coast including Brighton, Worthing and Portsmouth. There is a choice of road links to London including the A3, and Chichester provides a regular rail service to London Victoria in about 1 hour 40 minutes. A slightly faster service is available to London Waterloo via Havant in about 1 hour 20 minutes.
