5-bedroom former Moy (Highland) Railway station
Set amidst the spectacular scenery of the Scottish Highlands, Invermoy House is a substantial and highly individual five-bedroom detached home offering extensive single-level accommodation, generous private grounds and a fascinating connection to Highland railway history.

Formerly Moy Railway Station, this is far from an ordinary rental property. The house provides an unusual combination of character, space and practicality and would make an impressive long-term Highland home.

Living Accommodation
Internally, the property offers substantial and versatile accommodation, with a layout providing an excellent balance between shared family spaces and more private areas of the home.

The impressive triple-aspect lounge is a particular feature. Large windows allow excellent natural light into the room while providing views towards the surrounding grounds. A log-burning stove forms a welcoming focal point and adds to the character of this substantial reception space.

A separate and generously proportioned formal dining room provides considerable additional living space and could accommodate family dining, entertaining or potentially be adapted to suit a tenant's individual requirements.

At the heart of the house is the spacious kitchen, offering generous storage and preparation areas together with a standout Rangemaster cooker. The proportions make the kitchen well suited to both everyday family life and entertaining.

A separate utility room provides useful additional practical space.

Bedrooms
Invermoy House offers five generous bedrooms, making the property particularly suitable for those looking for a substantial home with flexible accommodation.

Two bedrooms benefit from their own ensuite shower facilities.

The impressive principal bedroom provides an excellent degree of privacy and incorporates its own dressing room and ensuite, creating a particularly spacious principal suite.

The remaining bedrooms offer considerable flexibility and could accommodate family members, guests or potentially provide home-working space where required.

Large windows throughout the property help create a bright and airy atmosphere while maintaining the connection between the house and its Highland surroundings.

Gardens & Grounds
Outside, Invermoy House enjoys an impressive setting with extensive private gardens and grounds, providing a wonderful feeling of space and seclusion.

One of the property's most unusual reminders of its railway heritage can still be seen to the rear, where the former station platform remains part of the property.

Sections around the former platform have been securely fenced, providing useful enclosed outside areas.

The combination of the former railway architecture, extensive grounds and surrounding Highland landscape gives Invermoy House a character that would be extremely difficult to replicate in a conventional modern property.

A Piece of Highland Railway History
Invermoy House has a particularly fascinating past as the former Moy Railway Station.

Moy Station opened in 1897 as part of the Highland Railway's direct route between Aviemore and Inverness. The station had two platforms, with the principal station building positioned on the southbound platform, together with goods facilities and signalling infrastructure.

The station was more architecturally substantial than some neighbouring stations. Contemporary historical accounts describe Moy as having been constructed in stone with architectural features appropriate to a station used by royalty and other important visitors travelling to the area during the Highland shooting season.

Over the years the station is reported to have welcomed distinguished travellers including King George V, David Lloyd George and Winston Churchill.

Regular passenger services ceased on 3 May 1965, although importantly the Highland Main Line itself remains in operation.

The former station subsequently began another chapter of its history when the property became known as The Carriages of Moy, operating as an eight-bedroom hotel and restaurant.

Today, Invermoy House provides the rare opportunity to live within a surviving piece of Highland railway heritage while enjoying the space and comforts of a substantial family home.

Location
Invermoy House enjoys a peaceful Highland setting in the Moy and Tomatin area, while remaining well placed for access to Inverness and the wider Highlands.

The nearby A9 provides the principal north-south connection through the Highlands, making the location particularly convenient for those wishing to enjoy rural living while retaining road access towards Inverness, Aviemore and destinations further south.

Tomatin provides local amenities, while a considerably wider range of shopping, education, leisure, healthcare and transport facilities can be found in Inverness.

The surrounding area is renowned for its Highland scenery, with countryside, woodland and mountains providing extensive opportunities for walking and outdoor pursuits.

Despite the rural surroundings, the availability of fibre-to-the-premises broadband also makes the property particularly suitable for those who work from home.
