Description
The sale of Thelwall Heys represents one of those increasingly rare opportunities to acquire an interesting and substantial Victorian home in a delightful setting and is akin to the traditional parkland settings found in many of the county's country homes. Whilst the setting is more modest with the house standing well within grounds extending to just under three acres, the house is not any less impressive with there being great attention to constructional detail being evident throughout.
The history of Thelwall Heys is quite well documented; bearing a datestone of 1864, the house was originally built for William Long by architect, Alfred Waterhouse, for the princely sum of 1000 Guineas. Whilst its use changed over the years, including being commandeered as a hospital during the Great War, the house remained in the same family's ownership until the mid 1990's when the property was acquired by our clients. Much of the house was unused and was in need or repair and updating and during the years, our clients have brought new life to 'The Heys', with sympathetic improvement and upgrading being conducted to ensure that the property's original charm, character and integrity has not been compromised.
Listed Grade II by the Department of the Environment, not only does 'The Heys' provide substantial and extensive accommodation suiting a wide range of lifestyles and requirements but included within the sale are two cottages; both being let on regulated tenancies which offer opportunity for further income source. In addition, there is an extensive and attractive range of outbuildings which were granted planning permission (2016/28135) on 12th August 2016 for conversion and alteration to an additional dwelling.

Take the left turn down the private road by the lodge just prior to the underbridge which carries the Bridgewater Canal over Cliff Lane. Continue down the drive, following the road to the left where Thelwall Heys will be found at its culmination.
