Seller's Insight
Ten years ago, the present owners wanted to move out of London
to bring their family up in the country. They wished to replicate their
city lifestyle in a more spacious home with easy access to shops, restaurants
and good schools within walking distance; but with the added attraction of a
rural setting.
They decided on Framlingham, an historic market town, nestled in the gentle
Suffolk countryside which has been included in the top four places to live by
the Sunday Times. The town ticked all their boxes, plus it was a mere twenty
minute drive to the coast. They were thrilled to discover Blakewood House, an
extremely spacious family home, only a quarter of a mile from the town centre.
The house dates from the eighties and the owners have carefully brought it up
to date, creating a home where there is room for everyone to gather together
and also to enjoy individual space. They rearranged the rooms and created a
sense of having almost two wings: Which has enabled the children to entertain
friends in one area, whilst retaining a quiet, adult zone. It has been extremely
convenient during lockdown in combining working from and schooling from
home.
All rooms are used, and appreciated for their generous size and the ability to
offer easy hospitality to family and friends. A cinema room was formed from
a ground floor bedroom, whilst the billiard room has a full sized table, and the
garage is now a well equipped gym. Blakewood House is the perfect party
pad, with a happy and welcoming ambience.
The conservatory provides a tranquil, setting where you can settle in a cosy chair
to read or simply relax, whilst enjoying pleasing garden views. Spring seems to
come early in this south facing, light flooded room. The music room and lounge
are perfect for relaxation. The sunny music room is ideal for morning coffee
and the lounge, with its log burning stove is a cosy winter retreat. Blakewood
House combines a luxury of space with great comfort.
The quiet, private garden is an attractive mix of lawn, shrubbery and seasonal
colour, and runs down to a pretty stream, where the children have spent many
happy hours. There have been summer afternoons of croquet and badminton,
or sitting on the patio simply savouring the garden's charm.
Framlingham has much to offer with its shops and restaurants and walks,
whilst Aldborough and Snape Maltings are an easy drive away. The owners
have loved and are going to miss the house and its location. It has been the
perfect place for young children, and they take away lovely memories.*

Outside
There is a wide pea shingled driveway to the front of the house providing parking and turning space for a
number of vehicles and this also gives access to the double garage with power and light connected, twin up
and over doors.
There are a variety of climbing shrubs and well-stocked flower borders with a pathway leading round to
the rear garden. Here there is a large area of lawn, further flower borders containing a variety of shrubs and
specimen trees and a magnificent mature ash lying on the bank of the brook at the rear of the garden.
There is also an old brick and pantile storage shed/workshop with power and light connected that offers
further potential to the property, subject to the necessary consents.
