West Denton Pool offers fitness suite facilities as well as its requisite three pools, and is known for having the longest swimming pool in all of Newcastle. Another area for leisure is Denton Dene. This corridor of natural woodland passes through the west end of Newcastle and was designated a nature reserve in 1991. It provides a popular location for walking, cycling and outdoor recreation adjacent to West Denton.

Getting Around

It’s only a 20-minute bus ride into central Newcastle from West Denton. A number of public bus services pass through the district, including the 10 and 38A buses. West Denton residents have all of the high street brands and quirky independent boutiques of Newcastle city centre available to them just a few miles away. Specialist shops can be found along Northumberland Street and Grainger Town. There’s intu Eldon Square in the city centre, with a flagship John Lewis and an Apple Store.
