Where in the UK has the most period properties?

Which region has the most period properties?

London tops the charts, with 19% of homes for sale boasting period features.

It is followed by the south west (14%) and the south east (12%) as the best regions to find a characterful home.

Top 10 areas with the most period properties for sale

Haringey in London is the top area for period properties, with 30% of homes for sale there  including period features.

In fact, London dominates the ranking, with 7 locations in the city making it into the top 10. They include Waltham Forest and Hammersmith and Fulham

Outside of London, seaside favourite Brighton and Hove is in fifth place, with 24% of properties mentioning period features.

Top area in each region for period properties

The historic cities of Norwich (19%) and Bristol (23%) are two of the areas with the highest percentage of period property listings in their regions. 

Elsewhere, Argyll and Bute in Scotland is one of the rural areas with a high number of properties for sale with character.

Methodology: 

Using Zoopla’s residential listings only, the volume of period properties was inferred by searching for  phrases such as ‘period ’, ‘Tudor’, ‘Victorian’ and ‘Edwardian’ and ‘Georgian’ in listing descriptions by outcode. Outcodes have then been matched to local authorities. Total period properties refers to ‘period ’, ‘Tudor’, ‘Victorian’ and ‘Edwardian’ and ‘Georgian’ listings combined.
