The suburb of Milltimber, found several miles outside of Aberdeen, is one of the most sought after areas in all of Scotland and even the UK. The most expensive postcode in Scotland in 2009, the larger area, which includes Cults and Bieldside, is one of the most well-to-do areas in the UK. and situated extremely close to Aberdeen, labelled one of the ‘Super Cities’ by HSBC in 2012.

With Aberdeen the fourth most liveable city on the British Isles, as suggested by Mercer, and Milltimber being the premier living destination within it, you’re assured to not only enjoy living there, but struggle to ever find reasons to leave!

Many of those living in Milltimber work in Aberdeen, and, considering the illustrious nature of the postcode, they often work for renowned companies in the city.

There are just over 2,500 residents, and, considering the area is entirely residential, most of them either work in the surrounding area or live there in retirement. As such, a higher proportion of the residents are married, with married couples comprising over 60% of residents, in comparison to the national mark of 45%.

Nearby schools

The Albyn School, an independent institute, is renowned as one of the finest schools in the Aberdeen region. With the best Higher exam results among every school in Aberdeen for two years running (2009 and 2010), it’s had excellent reviews. Taking students from nursery until the end of secondary school, it’s one of the most sought after schools in the area.

The nearby Cults Academy is also one of Scotland’s top-performing secondary schools, with some parents opting to send their children there and to the Milltimber primary school for their primary education.

For higher education, several Universities can be found within the Aberdeen municipality, such as the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University.

Getting around

Milltimber benefits from excellent road, rail and bus links. The A93 motorway runs directly through the area, going towards Aberdeen. The road also connects to other B-roads that run onwards to the larger Scottish motorways, such as the A90 and A96.

Although Milltimber does not have its own railway station, one can be found in Aberdeen city. From Aberdeen, you can reach much of Scotland and England. Aberdeen is also home to an airport. Aberdeen International Airport is one of the UK’s largest, offering flights across Europe and the Globe, and can be reached in a mere twenty five minutes by car.

Bus services are also available, connecting residents with Aberdeen and the surrounding suburbs and villages.

Local shops

As Milltimber is a purely residential neighbourhood, it doesn't boast many shops or amenities. However, nearby Cults has several supermarkets, as well as the ordinary amenities, such as bank branches, barbers, butchers, and more.

Therefore, to purchase essential goods, you’ll typically have to travel to the surrounding neighbourhoods. Of course, with Aberdeen as close as it is, you only need to travel into the city centre to find designer fashion and High Street favourites. With numerous shopping centres around Aberdeen, such as the Union Square, which boasts the city’s largest cinema, or the Bon Accord and St. Nicholas Shopping centres, which has over sixty five different storefronts to peruse - you’ll be spoilt for choice!

For those who enjoy golf, the region is one of the finest in Scotland. The Royal Aberdeen Golf course is extremely close by, and has hosted the Masters on several occasions, whilst Deeside Golf course in Bieldside is known for its excellent course, and royal members.
