10 great British areas to live with dogs

What if you could ask your dog where it wants to live?

We’d have loved to ask a few puppies first-hand. But as that was a bit far-fetched, we decided to use our best judgement instead.

We know that dogs love wide open spaces, other dogs to befriend and reasonable house prices (so you have more money to buy treats). So, which 10 places in the UK tick all those boxes?

Finding the pawfect rental home for your dog

Regardless of the area you decide to live in, you can start your search on Zoopla.

Search for the area you’re interested in and, on the results page, select the purple ‘Filter results’ button and check the ‘Pets allowed’ option under ‘Letting type’. You can additionally search for other words that might be relevant, such as ‘park’ or ‘quiet’.

Dog-friendly properties are likely to be snapped up quickly due to their limited availability, so you might need to start your search earlier to ensure you find a place that’s right for you in terms of size and outdoor space.

One way to get landlords on your side is to create a CV for your dog. It should include information about the age, breed, recent vaccinations, flea treatments and a photo of your dog.

References from your vet or previous tenant that show your dog is well-behaved are going to help you as well.
