Zoopla's latest State of the Property Nation report reveals what Brits really expect to happen to house prices.

Despite widespread economic uncertainty, Brits are staying positive when it comes to property - with 55% expecting house prices to rise in the next 12 to 18 months.

According to Zoopla’s State of the Property Nation report, consumer confidence in house prices is up from 44% in 2016, with most people expecting single digit price rises.

But estate agents are less optimistic, with just 33% predicting property price increases, down from 42% two years ago.

Demand for those wishing to move remains strong, with a 4% uptick in the number of households looking for a home to buy or rent in the last year to 31%.

The most active home hunters are in London, where 51% are looking for a home to buy or rent, up from 43% last year. Conversely, at 24%, the south west and Scotland are both home to the fewest property hunters.

Who is the most upbeat?

People living in Wales are the least positive (46%), followed by those in the North (51%), and Scotland (53%).
